Effects of filtration bleaching on peroxide value (PV), thiobarbituric acid value (TAV) and carbonyl value (CV) of autoxidized
soybean oil were investigated by using twenty-three kinds of activated carbon in order to improve oil quality. From the decreases
in PV, TAV and CV and from the physical and chemical properties of activated carbons, it was suggested that hydroperoxides,
aldehydes and ketones were adsorbed on the acid sites distributed over the surface or within the pores of the activated carbons
while the autoxidized soybean oil flowed through the packed column. The residual tocopherols in autoxidized soybean oil and
treated soybean oil were determined during storage. The decrease in oxidative stability of treated soybean oil seemed to be

The influences of interfacial bonding strength and scatter of strength of fibres on tensile behaviour of unidirectional metal matrix composites, whose matrix has low yield stress in comparison to the strength of fibres, were studied using the Monte-Carlo simulation technique using two-dimensional model composites. The following results were found. The strength of composites increases with increasing bonding strength, especially when the bonding strength exceeds the shear yield stress of the matrix and then remains nearly constant. The strength of composites is very sensitive to bonding strength when the scatter of fibre strength is large, but not when it is small. The fracture mode varies from non-cumulative to cumulative with increasing scatter of fibre strength for both cases of weak and strong interfacial bondings. The fracture surface becomes irregular when bonding strength becomes low and scatter of fibre strength becomes large. The applicability of the Rosen and Zweben models and the rule of mixtures to predict the strength of composites was examined. 相似文献

Two types of nanophotonic technologies—two-dimensional photonic crystal (2D PC) slab waveguides (WGs) and quantum dots (QDs)—were developed for key photonic device structures in the future. For an ultrafast digital photonic network, an ultrasmall and ultrafast symmetrical Mach–Zehnder (SMZ)-type all-optical switch (PC-SMZ) and an optical flip–flop device (PC-FF) have been developed. To realize these devices, one method is to develop a selective-area molecular beam epitaxial growth QD technique by employing a metal mask method. Another method is to establish a new design method, i.e., topology optimization of the 2DPC WG with a wide and flat bandwidth, high transmittance, and low reflectivity. We also fabricated an optical microcavity in a photonic crystal slab embedded with GaAs QDs by droplet epitaxy. The Purcell effect on the exciton emission of GaAs QDs was confirmed by microphotoluminescence and lifetime measurements. 相似文献

Phylogenetic analyses were carried out on a total of 118 Listeria monocytogenes isolates from foods or food processing environments, and 7 isolates from listeriosis patients in Japan to evaluate the genetic variation in the pathogen in this country. Isolates of serotypes 1/2a, 1/2b and 4b were mainly examined to assess the risk of exposure of humans to L. monocytogenes from foods in Japan. The nucleotide sequences of the part of the iap gene that contains the region encoding the threonine-asparagine repeat units were determined in order to construct phylogenetic trees of the isolates investigated. A phylogram showed high genetic diversity among lineage 2 isolates, while the lineage 1 isolates showed clonal characteristics. The results of the genetic analyses suggested the presence of rare putative lineage 3 isolates and epidemic clone I (ECI) isolates in foods in Japan. The results showed that ECI was also isolated from listeriosis patients. The genetic variation in L. monocytogenes in Japan reported here suggests the necessity of monitoring the pathogen in foods and environments in addition to surveillance of listeriosis patients. 相似文献

Membranes obtained from polymers, quaternized poly[3-(N′,N′-dimethyl) aminopropylacrylamide-co-acrylonitrile]s, showed selective separation of water from aqueous ethanol solution by pervaporation. The separation factor toward water reached over 15,000. Membrane performance showed a good correlation to membrane polarity. Differential scanning calorimetric melting endotherms of the water-swollen membranes were studied to clarify the state of water in the membranes. The results suggested that there are two states of water in the membrane: bound and free. The higher the fraction of bound water in the membrane, clearly, the more preferentially was water permeated. 相似文献

The tutorial paper will show that chemical process control parameters can be obtained from steady state operating data in combination with simple algebraic equations. The parameters include steady state process gain, feedforward control factor and approximate process time constant. Here, we treat ‘self-regulating’ processes first. Integrating processes and unstable processes are treated separately, unlike the standard method of setting up linear differential equations followed by Laplace transformations. With the standard method, a steady state portion of dynamic response, if there is any, appears as a part of equations of a complex variable. Many control engineers in the chemical industries who might have studied the method, do not use it because of mathematical difficulties. Instead, they may resort to plant tests that are often time consuming and costly. The parameters obtained by this paper's method will aid improvement of control systems. We will address the relation of this method with that of commercial software, which implement advanced process controls based on plant tests. 相似文献

We performed a randomized double-blind, placebo-controlled study on moderately obese male and female subjects (71 subjects) with a body mass index ranging from 23 to 30 to evaluate the efficacy of 12-week intake of polyphenols extracted from apples and hop bract (600 mg/day). We confirmed that 12-week ingestion of polyphenol-containing capsules significantly decreased total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels. The effects of the apple polyphenol-containing capsules were more marked than those of the hop bract polyphenol-containing capsules. The visceral fat area and the level of adiponectin in the group administered apple polyphenols improved in comparison with the control group. Blood and physical examinations revealed on clinical problems, and no adverse reactions were observed during the ingestion period. These results demonstrate that apple polyphenols regulate fat metabolism in healthy subjects with relatively high body mass index. 相似文献

In a fusion reactor, the prediction of tritium release behavior from breeder blanket is important to design the tritium recovery system, but the amount of tritium generated is necessary information to do that. Hence, tritium generation and recovery studies on lithium ceramics packed bed have been started by using fusion neutron source (FNS) in Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). Lithium titanate (Li2TiO3) was selected as tritium breeding material, and its packed bed was enclosed by the beryllium blocks, and was kept at certain temperature during fusion neutron irradiation. During irradiation, the packed bed was purged with the sweep gas continuously, and tritium released was trapped in each gas absorber selectively by chemical form. In this work, the effect of sweep gas species on tritium release behavior was investigated. In the case of sweep by helium with 1% of hydrogen, tritium in water form was released sensitively corresponding to the irradiation. This is due to existence of the water vapor in the sweep gas. On the other hand, in the case of sweep by helium without water vapor, tritium in gaseous form was released first, and release of tritium in water form was delayed from gaseous tritium and was gradually increased. 相似文献
